Python course: Home - Worksheets - Package - Developers - Licence - Credits

We've recently had to restore these pages from a backup; most things are back again, but please be patient if you can't find exactly what you're looking for.

LiveWires package

What's in the package

To use the sheets to learn Python, you'll need the LiveWires package. This is a set of Python modules we've written to make life a bit easier for beginners. It mainly provides an easy interface to the Tk graphics library and to the Pygame games library.

The package is released under the BSD software licence. If you just want to distribute unmodified copies of the .zip archive we've linked to below, you can do so completely freely. If you want to do something else, see the licence page to make sure what you're doing is OK; and look at our page for developers if you want to edit on the code.

Getting the package

You will need Winzip (under Windows) or unzip (under UNIX) to open the archive. The README file contains installation instructions: please make sure you've followed those instructions before you think about getting in touch to ask how to do it!

The LiveWires package works with Python 2.x, but not (yet) with Python 3.x.
